3 WARDROBE MUST HAVES FOR RAINY WEATHER
A lot of my clients are professional women who live and work in New York City. One of the biggest problems they face is what to wear for their commute to work on those rainy days! Nothing is worse than when your leather or suede shoes get destroyed in the rain. So, what to wear? You want to look professional and polished even though you’re running around the city getting soaking wet and your umbrella has flipped inside out from the wind. We’ve all been there!
My go-to accessories for such occasions are a pair of patent leather boots, a patent leather bag, and a great trench coat.
Patent leather boots or booties- Make sure these are a comfortable heel height for you. I know some ladies can handle a 5 inch heel like nobody's business, so do that if you dare! You can also go with a flat or stacked heel for more comfort.
Patent leather bag- These are great to keep your wallet and any important papers dry! Have you ever been wearing a bag in the rain and the water soaks right through? It’s the worst! Patent leather is essentially waterproof so no matter how many times you get it wet it will always look the same!
Trench coat- Trench coats are so classic and a great staple for any wardrobe. I suggest buying a more fitted trench coat and not too boxy so that it looks flattering and gives you a nice silhouette. Typically trench coats are not very warm, so for colder weather consider sizing up so that you can comfortably fit a cozy sweater or layering piece underneath.
